The real enemy in the battle over abortion…

“Ignore that man behind the curtain.”
I have written several articles around this infamous line in the Wizard of Oz. This is not because of any favoritism towards the movie (its not on my top 5 movies of all time), but rather due to the fact that it is the perfect allegory for legalized abortion.

“Ignore that man behind the curtain.”

I have written several articles around this infamous line in the Wizard of Oz. This is not because of any favoritism towards the movie (its not on my top 5 movies of all time), but rather due to the fact that it is the perfect allegory for legalized abortion.

Landing in “Oz”

So many times I feel like Dorothy. I was swept up into a front row seat of the battle over abortion and it has often left me feeling lost. I have been transported to a place where I see, not the suffering caused by any wicked witch, but the devastation left by legalized abortion. I have met and heard from so many people who don’t take a stand because, like the scare crow, lion, and the tin man – they mistakenly felt like they lacked the courage or the right characteristics to make a difference.

But Life Dynamics is a team of underdogs. We come to work each day (a staff of only four) working on a shoe string budget, not knowing if each day will be our last, trekking the “yellow brick road” and working to show the true face of legalized abortion until the public can no longer ignore the atrocity America has tolerated for over 40 years. Instead of clicking sparkly red shoes together, ending abortion is our “way home.”

The most frustrating, and frankly surprising, revelation for me has been that our biggest enemy in this fight is not the abortion industry – its indifference.

Indifference

Indifference by a large population who mistakenly believes that abortion has no bearing on their lives. Indifference by politicians who are looking for any reason not to get involved in the abortion fight, even if they claim to be pro-life. Indifference by those who believe that abortion is wrong, but don’t feel like they have a responsibility to say or do anything about it. Most importantly, the indifference of the church – a body of people who know that it is the deliberate killing of innocent and defenseless babies created by God. If you think I am being too harsh, I ask you to think about those who were indifferent to the injustice of slavery.

Partnered with slick marketing, indifference has become the abortion industry’s greatest weapon. It was the Nazi doctor Joseph Mengele who once said, “The more we do to you, the less you seem to believe we are doing it.” I used to believe that this statement was just one of many ramblings of a sociopath, but the older I get, the more I realize that he was right.

The more we reveal how evil the abortion industry is – the less people want to believe it. Life Dynamics has published reports, with sources, about how the women are raped inside abortion clinics, the abortion industry sells aborted baby parts, how minor girls are taken by their rapists to get abortions and the clinics refuse to report, and how the abortion industry targets minority neighborhoods. Despite the proof, there are people who readily accept our findings as “propaganda” by “right wingers.” Our citations from abortion industry insiders or third party sources are always found lacking by the same people who would readily quote CNN or the New York Times.

“Ignore that man behind the curtain” is the abortion industry’s motto.

“We have met the enemy, and he is us.”

I am often reminded of that line in the Pogo comic strip by Walt Kelly: “We have met the enemy, and he is us.”

It’s the public’s apathy that allows the abortion industry to carry on business as usual. Instead of a man behind the curtain, it’s all the symptoms of legalized abortion that we have been asked to ignore. For 40 years, America has silently tolerated the sale of aborted baby parts, ignored the women who were attacked or killed for refusing to have abortions, ignored the women who have been sexually assaulted or raped by their abortionist, ignored the women who have died due to their abortions, ignored the abortion industry’s protection of pedophiles and pimps, and tolerated the racist and eugenic agenda of Planned Parenthood and its cohorts.

How long will it take America to say – enough is enough?

How long until we stop falling for the illusion in front of us and rip back the curtain to see what is really behind it?

  1. Moira Sheridan says:

Right again, Mark. Every time there is a new crime/outrage committed by the abortion industry, it eventually dies away with NO consequences for the perpetrators. The indifference is discouraging, but part of this battle. Eventually the walls will crack and split, the rot be exposed, and justice be served. We have to remain faithful. Thank you for all your good work.
