The Supreme Court Leak & An Overturning Roe Reality Check
The important thing to remember is that the overturn of Roe will be a great victory for the pro-life movement, but all it really does is change the nature of the battle and the environment in which it is fought. What doesn’t change is that it is a battle we could still lose.

On May 2nd, a report was leaked to the media saying that the Supreme Court was about to issue a ruling that overturns Roe vs. Wade.
Several things are important to keep in mind.
First, only time will tell if this report is accurate or not. Second, if it is accurate, this leak is just a sleezy attempt to bring pressure on the justices who support the overturn to change their minds before the actual decision is rendered. Third, if the eventual decision does indeed overturn Roe, that does not make abortion illegal. It simply means that each state will be allowed to decide its own abortion policy.
On one end of the spectrum, some states may outlaw abortion altogether, and on the other end of the spectrum, some states will allow abortion-on-demand up to the moment of birth. And since state lines can be freely crossed, every baby in America will still be vulnerable to abortion.
The important thing to remember is that the overturn of Roe will be a great victory for the pro-life movement, but all it really does is change the nature of the battle and the environment in which it is fought. What doesn’t change is that it is a battle we could still lose.
