As Seattle Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman concentrates on Super Bowl XLIX, he and his pregnant girlfriend Ashley Moss are preparing for the birth of their first child.
When Moss was asked what would happen if the first time mother goes into labor during the game she replied, “I guess we’ll have a Super Bowl baby and if you see Richard heading for the locker room right after it hits zero in the fourth quarter, don’t be surprised,” she said.
Richard Sherman told the media that the only way he would miss the Superbowl on Sunday is if his unborn child arrives early.
“I’m focused on the game right now,” Sherman said, “He’s not supposed to come on Sunday.”
But, Sherman said, if the baby came early, it would change things, “But, I think he’s going to be a disciplined young man and stay in there until after the game,” the NFL cornerback told reporters.
“He’s gonna do his father his first favor and stay in there for a for another week or two“, Sherman said.
Sherman said he thought about the possibility of the baby coming during the game or even coming before the game, “We have things in place in case that happens. And, we’ll cross that bridge when we get there. But, I obviously did not know it was the topic of national debate, honestly.”
Smiling from ear to ear as he spoke to reporters about his unborn son, Sherman said that he did not want to miss the birth of his first son, “You know, I would not like to miss the birth my first son, um, my first kid. But, thankfully and hopefully and God willing we won’t have to cross that bridge.”
