Earlier this week, The Center for Medical Progress released an undercover video revealing that Planned Parenthood affiliates across the nation are in the business of extracting intact fetal body parts.

Now, Pro-life Wisconsin has discovered that the abortionist in the shocking video, Planned Parenthood Federation of America Senior Director of Medical Services, Dr. Deborah Nucatola, is also a University of Wisconsin Madison graduate.

The University has been the focus of the group for their promotion of fetal tissue research.

Writing on their website in part:

For purposes of this section fetal tissue means tissue or cells obtained from a dead human embryo or fetus after a spontaneous or induced abortion, or after a stillbirth.

All research using human fetal materials derived from an induced abortion or which otherwise meets the criteria for IRB review must be submitted for review and ongoing approval to a UW-Madison Health Sciences Institutional Review Board (IRB).

UW-Madison retains oversight of research in which UW-Madison employees or agents are engaged in research collaborations, including when the research with fetal materials is conducted at other sites.

“That the abortion industry, including Planned Parenthood, profits from the sale of aborted human fetal body parts is no shock to Pro-Life Wisconsin,” they state in their release.

In the video, Nucatola told actors posing as buyers from a human biologics company, that she had 67 Planned Parenthood affiliates which could offer fetal tissue specimens to a variety of research organizations.

Nucatola can be heard describing how the Planned Parenthood abortionists can manipulate the way they do procedures to best preserve the specific organ that has been requested.

I’d say a lot of people want liver. And for that reason, most providers will do this case under ultrasound guidance, so they’ll know where they’re putting their forceps. The kind of rate-limiting step of the procedure is calvarium. Calvarium—the head—is basically the biggest part,” the Planned Parenthood abortionist told the undercover operatives.

Nucatola explains, “We’ve been very good at getting heart, lung, liver, because we know that, so I’m not gonna crush that part, I’m gonna basically crush below, I’m gonna crush above, and I’m gonna see if I can get it all intact.”

Pro-life Wisconsin said that UW-Madison fetal tissue researchers have published studies which show that babies are obtained from various abortion clinics.

A 1999 fetal pancreatic tissue study conducted by D.A. MacKenzie, H.W. Sollinger, and D.A. Hullet of the UW-Madison Department of Surgery studied human fetal pancreases (HFP) as a potential source of transplantable islets for the treatment of advanced Type 1 diabetes.

Human fetal pancreases between 13-20 weeks gestation were obtained ‘with informed maternal consent following elective abortions at local clinics,’ they state.

A 2000 fetal brain cell study conducted by Su-Chun Zhang of the UW-Madison Department of Medical Sciences used immature neural cells from fetal human brain tissue of 15-20 gestation weeks ‘after elective termination of intrauterine pregnancies’ to study neurological disorders,” writes Pro-life Wisconsin.

The study acknowledged former Madison abortionist Dr. Dennis Christenson for his ‘assistance in this project,'” they state.

Abortionist Dennis Christensen

Christenson is a long time abortionist who has admitted that he has performed 85,000 to 95,000 abortions.

In 2003, Christensen told the New York Times that while some call the baby an ”unborn child,” he calls them ”the developing pregnancy.”

BANNING THE PROCEDURE

The Wisconsin pro-life group notes that while federal law prohibits the interstate trafficking of human fetal body parts, Wisconsin’s intrastate commercial activity must have a similar prohibition.

During the past two legislative sessions the organization has been working to outlaw the gruesome practice of using or selling aborted human fetal body parts in their state.

Pro-Life Wisconsin said that they strongly support legislation authored by Representative Andre Jacque that would prohibit the sale and use of aborted human fetal body parts.

The law states:

Current law prohibits a person from knowingly, and for valuable consideration, acquiring, receiving, or otherwise transferring a human organ. Current federal law prohibits a person from knowingly acquiring, receiving, or otherwise transferring, in interstate commerce, any fetal tissue for valuable consideration. This bill prohibits a person from knowingly and for valuable consideration acquiring, receiving, or otherwise transferring a fetal body part in this state. A fetal body part is a cell, tissue, organ, or other part of, or any material derived from any cell or tissue of, an unborn child who is aborted by an induced abortion. The bill also prohibits a person from knowingly providing, receiving, or using, for experimentation a fetal body part in this state, regardless of whether the provision, receipt, or use is for valuable consideration.

Pro-life Wisconsin is urging the full legislature to support Representative Jacque’s ban when it is reintroduced this session.

“The preborn aborted child did not consent to his or her abortion, and certainly did not consent to his or her experimentation. Human dignity demands that our aborted brothers and sisters receive a proper burial, not to mention their full protection as persons under the law. Federal law prohibits the interstate trafficking of human fetal body parts. Wisconsin’s intrastate commercial activity must have a similar prohibition so that we can guarantee the highest ethical standards of academic research and medical care in our state,” they said.
