TRANSCRIPT

Some abortion defenders say that abortion is not murder because the fetus is not fully developed. This, of course, conveniently ignores the fact that human beings develop throughout their entire lives. In fact, research has shown that the human brain is not fully developed until the person is in their mid-twenties, and some people have issues that will keep them from fully developing no matter how long they live. But that doesn’t make it okay to kill them.

The point is that, yes, a fetus is less developed than a newborn just as a 12-year-old is less developed than an adult. But that doesn’t mean that a 12-year-old is less human, and it certainly doesn’t mean that a human being’s right-to-life is determined by their level of development.
