CALLER: Hi. Yeah. I was calling to see if you guys do abortions there.
CLINIC: Yes, we do.
CALLER: Okay. Well, how much does it cost for that?
CLINIC: How many weeks?
CALLER: I’m not really sure. How do you know?
CLINIC: When was your last period?

CALLER: Well, do you know if the judges usually says it’s all right to do that?
CLINIC: I don’t know until you call and talk to her. I have no idea.
CALLER: Oh, okay. So say the judge says that it was all right and everything, what would I do then?
CLINIC: First you have to talk to her. I can’t tell you anything because I don’t know.
CALLER: Oh, okay.
CLINIC: Talk to her first.
CALLER: Okay. Well, do you guys do pregnancy tests there?
CLINIC: Yes. You have to bring the urine first thing in the morning. And we’re here. You have to bring it in around about 7:30.
CALLER: Okay. But would anybody have to know that I was getting a pregnancy test?
CLINIC: No. And it’s $5.
CALLER: Oh, okay. Well my boyfriend said that – we were talking about all this, and he said that he would pay for everything. But we don’t want anyone to know about us. Would he have to fill out any forms or anything?
CLINIC: Yes, you do when you come in.
CALLER: Would he have to fill out forms though?
CLINIC: You have papers that you fill out to have the surgery.
CALLER: Oh, okay. But does my boyfriend’s name have to be on anything?
CLINIC: No.
CALLER: Oh, okay. It’s just he doesn’t want anyone to know about him and me.
CLINIC: No. Everything’s confidential.
CALLER: Okay.
CLINIC: All right?
CALLER: Alright.
CLINIC: You need to call her.
CALLER: Well, when do you guys normally do the pregnancy test though?
CLINIC: I said first thing in the morning at 7:30 you have to bring that in.
CALLER: Everyday of the week or?
CLINIC: You bring it in, the first urine specimen in the first thing in the morning. And then call back in about two or three hours, and we can give you the results of the test.
CALLER: Okay. If the pregnancy test came out that I wasn’t pregnant, do you guys have birth control there?
CLINIC: No.
CALLER: Oh, okay. All right. Well, I’ll call the lawyer and call you back. What was your name?

CALLER: Oh, okay. Well, my friend said that since like I’ll be 14 in March that you guys have to tell my parents, but —

CALLER: — is it all right if like my boyfriend does it because he’s like 22?
CLINIC: We won’t tell you anything. We won’t — your boyfriend is how old?
CALLER: He’s 22.
CLINIC: And how old are you?

CLINIC: Okay. Do your parents know that you’re seeing him?
CALLER: Well, they don’t like him, but they know.
CLINIC: Yeah. You need to let us come in here and talk to you, okay?
CALLER: All right. How come?
CLINIC: Well, you’re kind of young to be having sex like that and not using something to keep from getting pregnant, okay?
CALLER: But we’re in love. We’re going to get married.
CLINIC: I’m sorry?
CALLER: We’re in love. We’re going to get married.
CLINIC: Why don’t you come in and let us do a pregnancy test and talk, okay?
CALLER: All right. Well, do you guys have to tell my parents or anything?
CLINIC: No, we do not.

CLINIC: Just so you’re here before 6:00 today, okay?
CALLER: Well, okay. I have to call and see when he can — like what time he gets off work and if we can get there.
CLINIC: Okay, and we’re here tomorrow half a day.
CALLER: Okay. But is it all right if he brings me?

CALLER: And you guys won’t have to say anything or anything?
CLINIC: Won’t have to say anything? What do you mean?
CALLER: Well, I don’t know. Is it all right if — like they won’t have to tell my parents that I’m there?
CLINIC: No, we will not.
CALLER: Okay. And they wouldn’t tell anybody at all?

CALLER: Uh-huh. Like he used to work with my dad, so.
CLINIC: He used to work with your dad?
CALLER: Uh-huh.
CLINIC: And they know you’re dating?

CLINIC: Okay. Well, I mean, as far as for your parents, we don’t have to contact your parents.
CALLER: Okay. Well, would you have to contact anyone else?
CLINIC: Well, I’ll be honest with you. By law because you are 13 years old, we should. Now we’ve never reported anybody, okay?
CALLER: Okay.
CLINIC: But I would like for you to come in and let us talk to you.
CALLER: Well, would he get in trouble or anything?
CLINIC: Well, no, but you know, we really do need to talk. We just want to talk to you, okay?
CALLER: All right.
CLINIC: We won’t get you in trouble or anything. But we really would like to talk to you.

CLINIC: Okay? Can you come in and let us talk to you?
CALLER: Well, I’d have to talk to him and see when he can drive me, but —
CLINIC: Okay, and have you missed a period?
CALLER: Well, yeah. Like my last period was like the 2nd week in December, so.
CLINIC: In December?
CALLER: Uh-huh.
CLINIC: Have your periods been normal up to that point?
CALLER: Yeah.
CLINIC: You really need to come in and let us talk to you, okay?
CALLER: Okay.
CLINIC: Okay. You call me back when you know when you can come.
CALLER: Okay. Well, do you know if I could get an abortion without my parents or anybody finding out?
CLINIC: No, you have – because of your age, you have to have your parents consent for an abortion.
CALLER: But I can’t tell them at all. They can’t find out. Like I would get in big trouble.
CLINIC: I’m sorry?
CALLER: I would get in big trouble.
CLINIC: But they know that you’re dating him, right?
CALLER: Yeah, but they don’t know that we’re having sex. I mean, they would be furious.
CLINIC: Well, why don’t you come in and talk to us, and then we’ll go from there, okay? It’s easier for us to talk to you face to face, okay?
CALLER: Okay.
CLINIC: Than, you know — and I’ll check around and see what we can do about that, but here in the state of Kentucky you have to have your parents’ consent to have an abortion.
CALLER: And there’s nothing I can do? I mean, I can’t tell them. There’s nothing else I could do?
CLINIC: No, sweetheart, there’s not, and don’t you think those things, okay?
CALLER: Okay.
CLINIC: You know, there’s nothing — in the state of Kentucky you have to tell your parents because I mean you can’t go to an abortion clinic and have an abortion without that. But you need to come in and let us talk to you, okay?
