Something To Be Thankful For

To say that 2020 has been a memorable year
would be the understatement of the century.

It’s unnecessary to write a summary of everything that’s happened but, in a nutshell, 2020 has been like licking a lamp post in winter – painful, disgusting, and we have no idea how get out of the mess we’re in. And now it’s the time of year where we, traditionally, gather together with our loved ones and think about all we are thankful for.

With all the stuff that has happened this year, it may be hard for some to find things to be thankful for, especially since the holidays may not look the same for many of us. It is for those people, that I write this. I hope this is the proof you need to see that all is not lost, and we have so much to be thankful for.

Coronavirus Twist

Despite all of the death and pain from Coronavirus, it has provided one interesting twist: it forced the abortion industry to show their true colors. While thousands across the country had critical surgeries postponed due to health concerns, the abortion industry refused to close their doors – even after states had ordered them specifically to do so. The icing on the cake came when a few clinics began asking for donations of extremely scarce protective gear. Their actions showed people across the country that, at the end of the day, nothing is more important to them than killing babies.

ALL Black Lives Matter

#BlackLivesMatter has unwittingly created an opportunity for the pro-life movement that we could never have imagined! Black Lives Matter protests have produced a dramatically heightened interest among African-Americans in black genocide. And the more intellectually honest among them are becoming very uncomfortable with the obvious hypocrisy of screaming “black lives matter” at the police and the American people while ignoring the fact that Planned Parenthood is killing hundreds of black babies in the womb every day. This has helped the truth reach people who were basically oblivious and/or disinterested in the abortion issue just months previously.

Another gain from the Black Lives Matter movement is that Planned Parenthood and Marie Stopes International have started desperately trying to distance themselves from their founders. It’s no secret that both women were racists and eugenicists with ties to the Nazi party, but for years the abortion industry and the feminist movement has either downplayed it or ignored it and, instead, showered them with praise. Until it was quietly discontinued in 2015, Planned Parenthood’s highest award was the Margaret Sanger award.

In 2015, Sanger was one of the women nominated by feminists nationwide as candidate in the Women On 20s campaign to put a woman on the $20 bill. (You can bet the left is sighing in relief that Sanger never made it past round one.) But in today’s cultural and political climate, Planned Parenthood and Marie Stopes International knows that even a whiff of racism is the kiss of death that could suddenly lead to a BLM protest on their doorstep, and that is something they cannot afford.

Planned Parenthood announced that the removal of Sanger’s name from their Manhattan facility, was a “necessary and overdue step to reckon with our legacy and acknowledge Planned Parenthood’s contributions to historical reproductive harm within communities of color.”

Amidst all of this, Planned Parenthood has tried to convince everyone that this racism is all in the past. However, former employees of Planned Parenthood and other pro-choice organizations have come forward and stated that they witnessed overt and widespread racism inside these groups. Can’t Stop Kanye

Kanye West is complicated and sometimes controversial. His open struggles with bi-polar disorder has made it hard for some to take him seriously. Regardless, his comments on abortion and its impact on the black community is important. The first black celebrity to openly discuss the racism of the abortion industry, West stated in an interview with Forbes Magazine, “Planned Parenthoods have been placed inside cities by white supremacists to do the Devil’s work.” The backlash from his anti-Planned Parenthood and anti-abortion statements has been immense. In response, liberal fans fired back online and media outlets were quick to run stories criticizing and ridiculing West. But West has refused to back down. In July, West tweeted, “There is a tactic of 4 D’s: Distract, Discredit, Dismiss, To Destroy. I am quite alright. Take a second and think about what is being projected here.”

Supreme Court Win

2020 brought Donald Trump’s third Supreme Court appointment, Amy Coney Barrett – a woman whose confirmation hearing earned her the adoration of many conservatives and had Joe Biden shaking in his shoes during the debates. It is too soon to see just how she will rule on cases near and dear to the hearts of pro-lifers and conservatives but, in the mean time, we have the epic shot of her blank notepad for plenty of memes.

The Future Is Female Pro-Lifers

It looks like AOC and “the Squad” is the least of Nancy Pelosi’s problems. According to the Susan B. Anthony list, the 2020 elections resulted in “a historic number of pro-life women elected to the U.S. House of Representatives.” A total of 16 pro-life women are now members of the House, 8 of which took their seat from a pro-abortion Democrat.

Included in this list is Stephanie Bice, the first Iranian-American ever elected to Congress; Kat Cammack, the youngest Republican woman in Congress; Young Kim, the first Korean-American Republican woman to serve in the California State Assembly; and Nicole Malliotakis. As the daughter of Greek and Cuban immigrants, Malliotaki is the only Hispanic elected official in New York City and was the first of only two Greek women elected in New York State. I guess these women didn’t get the left’s memo that the pro-life movement is supposed to be a collection of old white guys.

Louisiana Lays Down The Law

The elections have been a roller coaster for conservatives, but one high point was Louisana’s impressive landslide victory. Louisiana voters passed Amendment 1, which prevents Louisiana’s courts from finding a “right to abortion” in the state’s constitution should Roe vs Wade be overturned and abortion sent back to the states.

What does this mean in the short term? Nothing. But as Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O’Connor said, Roe “… is clearly on a collision course with itself …” That is why liberal states have been codifying Roe into their state’s constitutions over the last few years. The left sees the writing on the wall and, as we discuss in episode two of our Pro-Life America Podcast, there are two ways Roe can be overturned. If abortion is overturned on the basis that the Constitution acknowledges a right-to-life for all “persons,” and that the unborn are persons under the law, then the battle is over. However, if the court rules that the constitution is silent on abortion and, therefore, a “states’ rights” matter, suddenly the lives of the unborn hinge on these state constitutions. The left understands that the most likely outcome is that of the latter, and they have begun preparing.

Maybe Louisiana will encourage other conservative run states, who have yet to protect the unborn in their states’ constitution, to do the same.

This is just a few of the blessings this year has brought
and we hope it has brought some encouragement.

Yes, this year has been a beating and it may, at times, be tempting to throw in the towel. But we will continue on because the unborn are depending on us, and our commitment to them doesn’t apply only when things are easy. So take a breath, eat some turkey, and then let’s get back to saving babies.
