Bye, Bye, Sanger

For years, Life Dynamics has been educating people on the abortion industry’s connection to the eugenics movement.

Our documentary, Maafa 21, proves that the driving force behind the legalization of abortion was black genocide. And at the very center of that was Margaret Sanger and Planned Parenthood.

In the past, the pro-choice side has been eager to defend the card carrying eugenicist without fail. Some have claimed that it was a lie, others have begrudgingly admitted it but claim that didn’t negate her “achievements.” It was most likely that rationalization that resulted in her bust being displayed in the Smithsonian’s “Struggle For Justice” exhibit mere feet from civil rights heroes.

Name Change Requested

But now, Planned Parenthood of Greater New York will remove Sanger’s name from its Manhattan health clinic, and potentially from a street sign near its offices, because of her “harmful connections to the eugenics movement.”

“The removal of Margaret Sanger’s name from our building is both a necessary and overdue step to reckon with our legacy and acknowledge Planned Parenthood’s contributions to historical reproductive harm within communities of color,” said Karen Seltzer, the chair of the New York affiliate’s board.

There are two takeaways from this.

First, as the New York Times article states, Planned Parenthood actually admits that they have committed “reproductive harm within communities of color.” Talk about the understatement of the year. Since 1973, abortion has reduced the black population by over 25%. Two times as many African Americans have died from abortion than heart disease, cancer, aids, accidents, and violent crime COMBINED. So Planned Parenthood can claim that “any insinuation that abortion is Black genocide is offensive and infantliziling,” but the truth is as clear as day.

Second, at a time when the racist and eugenicist beliefs of Margaret Sanger are becoming common knowledge and racist historical figures are being called out and their monuments eliminated or destroyed – Planned Parenthood has seen the writing on the wall. They have known from day one what Sanger stood for and what her vision for Planned Parenthood was. Make no mistake, this is a public relations stunt to wash their hands of Sanger while continuing on, business as usual.

After all, our Racial Targeting and Population Control report proves that Planned Parenthood has targeted black and Hispanic communities by placing facilities in areas where those minority populations are disproportionately represented. We documented that there is not one state in the union without population control centers located in ZIP codes with higher percentages of blacks and/or Hispanics than the state’s overall percentage. And when the American family planning industry places multiple facilities in a ZIP code, that ZIP code is more than two-and-a-half times as likely to be disproportionately minority as not. Will Planned Parenthood close clinics located in zip codes where the black and/or Hispanic populations exceeds 200% of the state’s overall percentage?

The highest award Planned Parenthood gave out to “recognize leadership, excellence, and outstanding contributions to the reproductive health and rights movement” was the Margaret Sanger Award. Will past recipients like Hillary Clinton (who stated she admired Sanger and “her vision”) Nancy Pelosi, Gloria Feldt, and Jane Fonda return their awards?

In 2007, an undercover investigation conducted by Live Action proved that Planned Parenthood would accept financial donations on the condition that the money is to be used to eliminate African-Americans. However, this practice is not new. In a 1986 CNN interview, Planned Parenthood president Faye Waddleton stated, “As a matter of fact… we have received contributions from people who want to support us because they want all welfare mothers and all black women to stop having children.” Will Planned Parenthood stop this practice?

Calling Dr. Guttmacher

The research arm of Planned Parenthood, the same one that claims that they don’t target minorities, is the Guttmacher Institute. Named after former Planned Parenthood president, and vice-resident of the American Eugenics Society, Alan F. Guttmacher, the research institute was “nurtured” (as their website states) by Guttmacher. He was obsessed with population control and believed that “feeble-minded” and “unfit” persons should have abortions. It should be no surprise that it was under Guttmacher’s presidency of Planned Parenthood that abortion became part of their mission.

“Guttmacher would like to see the Planned Parenthood Association… set up facilities. In fact, the Planned Parenthood group in New York City is now thinking about setting up a clinic in the Borough Hall area of Brooklyn.”

Guttmacher was awarded the 1972 Margaret Sanger award for his work. Will the Guttmacher Institute change its name and disavow him in a similarly insincere manner?

At the end of the day actions speak louder than words. Planned Parenthood’s name change is just a PR stunt designed with the hope it will satisfy the growing swell of people who know the racism of Planned Parenthood, Sanger, and its cohorts.
