4 indicted on organized crime charges in forced abortion case

Four relatives who forced an abortion on a teenaged rape victim and then attempted to burn the baby on a grill have been indicted on charges of engaging in organized crime.

As Life Dynamics has previously reported, the 14-year-old rape victim, who was eight months pregnant at the time of the beating, told police she was a virgin before a family member raped her in 2012.

As a result of the rape she became pregnant.

She said that she “did not tell anyone about the sexual assault because … she was embarrassed.”

According to reports, the girl’s relatives found out about the pregnancy between January and March 2013 and “became very nervous and were concerned about … [Child Protective Services] removing children from the residence,” the affidavit says.

After the beating the teen delivered the baby stillborn. Police say that the adults then took the baby and tried to burn the child to cover their crime.

The teen remained quiet about the rape until May 22, 2015 when she was taken to police by another woman who said she witnessed part of the assault.

Police have now charged 27-year-old Cedric Jones, 45-year-old Sharon Jones, 25-year-old Cecila McDonald and 27-year-old Lonnell McDonald on charges of engaging in organized criminal activity.

The rape suspect, Robert Joseph Cayald, 22, has not been indicted, though he was arrested on a charge of aggravated sexual assault, according to a report in the Dallas Morning News.

In a report entitled, “Under-the-Radar Violence in the Conflict Over Abortion,” Life Dynamics has documented that pregnant girls and women are often assaulted and even murdered when they fail to submit to abortion.
